CHIME Digital Health Leadership Academy for Nurses and Midwives
16- 19 November, 2021 | Location: Somerset
CHIME is partnering with NHSx and the Florence Nightingale Foundation to offer a three-day Digital Leadership Academy for nurses and midwives. It will give you the leadership skills to improve patient care in your organisation using the power of digital health.
Objectives
This Leadership Academy will follow CHIME’s academically recognised curriculum which covers the seven strengths, called success factors, that a health and care professional needs to develop to use digital health to transform patient care.
Students will be taught how to set vision and strategy for digital health in their organisation; influence colleagues to make change happen; keep patients at the centre of any adaptive change; help staff adopt digital health solutions and build a strong network and community across all agencies.
Methods
Everyone joining the Digital Leadership Academy will immediately be enrolled onto CHIME University: our online education platform.
This subscription service is offered free to all students to allow them to meet their classmates and mentor, start reading course materials and use the many educational resources and self-paced courses available on the Ignite site.
Students will be given a reading list and assigned to a small group mentored by a senior nurse leader. The curriculum is taught through presentations, individual tasks, group assignments and includes support with personal resilience.
Outcomes
The Leadership Academy will train attendees to work at the top of their licence by using digital health to transform their practice. Specifically, attendees will be able to be advocates for IT adoption in a health and care setting and be confident justifying IT spend, designing strategies and encouraging adaptive change from their colleagues.
All teaching is consolidated with a reading list of peer-reviewed papers and industry specific articles, many of which CHIME owns through licence, and which remain available to attendees in perpetuity.
Attendees will also spend time working on their personal resilience and life/work balance in order to support their professional impact. Each attendee will work closely with a mentor, such as a Chief Nurse Information Officer, who will remain available for support and counsel after the course.
All attendees will become members of CHIME International and be able to access CHIME’s educational materials, including presentations, online. We encourage CHIME members to share this work and act as advocates for leadership in digital health.
